3D Raman mapping combined with FIB‐SEM on multiphase fluid inclusions: A tool to unravel complex phase assemblages

چکیده

In this study, we performed high resolution 3D Raman mapping on primary multiphase fluid inclusions from a granulite and an eclogite of the Cabo Ortegal Complex (NW Spain), latter representing former subduction zone environment. Several microns-sized are great targets to test advantages limitations mapping. We show how optical scattering properties phases inside can affect veracity both 2D maps. As independent control, models were compared with focused ion beam-scanning electron microscopy submicron-scale slicing three previously mapped inclusions, allowing us optimize spectroscopy data evaluation provide volume proportion calculations. found that non-optimized procedure might result in even order magnitude over- or underestimation phase properties. propose correcting maps empirically determined cross sections vastly improve quality The results valuable input for thermodynamic modeling draw implications fluid/rock interactions.

Application of Raman Microscopy to Fluid Inclusions in Minerals

Overview Fluid inclusions are small, sealed, naturally occurring volumes found in mineral host crystals containing encapsulated aqueous and non-aqueous liquids and gases. Discrete mineral phases may also occur within fluid inclusions, either by precipitation from the soluterich fluids or via collocation at a host crystal defect. Fluid inclusions appear in many different patterns. For example, f...

Dynamic phase separation of fluid membranes with rigid inclusions.

Membrane shape fluctuations induce attractive interactions between rigid inclusions. Previous analytical studies showed that the fluctuation-induced pair interactions are rather small compared to thermal energies, but also that multibody interactions cannot be neglected. In this paper, it is shown numerically that shape fluctuations indeed lead to the dynamic separation of the membrane into pha...

A Multispecies Pedestrian Model based on a 3d multiphase incompressible fluid flow model

The idea to simulate pedestrian flow by the application of fluid dynamics equations has a certain history in that field. This approach is based on the application of partial differential equations, which makes it a macroscopic method. The need to simulate several different species of pedestrians is a need from the start, which has not been matched very well by numerical simulations of the maros...

3D Phase Sensitive B1 Mapping

INTRODUCTION: Sodium MRI shows promise in assessing cartilage health [1], characterizing tumors [2], detecting abnormal sodium levels in the kidneys [3], and assessing tissue damage following stroke [4]. However, relatively low Na concentrations in biological tissues, a rapid biexponential signal decay, and a low gyromagnetic ratio make sodium MRI challenging. Recent improvements in MRI hardwar...

Nonlinear neutral inclusions: assemblages of coated ellipsoids

The problem of determining nonlinear neutral inclusions in (electrical or thermal) conductivity is considered. Neutral inclusions, inserted in a matrix containing a uniform applied electric field, do not disturb the field outside the inclusions. The well-known Hashin-coated sphere construction is an example of a neutral inclusion. In this paper, we consider the problem of constructing neutral i...
